The holiday season is the time when Corporate America slows down just a little bit, so people are generally more open to attending after-hours holiday events. Capitalize on that by attending functions and connecting (or reconnecting) with colleagues, company leaders, recruiters, etc., and remember to reach out to people you DO NOT KNOW.

While the eggnog is flowing and festive music is playing, remember that building relationships is your main focus, not just talking shop. This is a time for you and your colleagues to relax and enjoy yourselves in a setting that allows them to get to know you.

You are not just the job you currently have nor the position you are trying to land. Being a successful networker means you know how to leave those things at the door and simply bring yourself instead.
