Start by researching a wide variety of organizations and then commit yourself to a only a few events as time goes on. You want to become a staple at these particular events. When you bounce around to too many different events, no one knows you. You’re doing yourself a disservice by having to build your brand from scratch every time. Networking tends to be a lot more fun when you become a regular.  Your new business acquaintances will sing your praises to new attendees (this is always better than you doing it yourself) and you’ll see lots of familiar faces. Familiar faces turn into relationships. And relationships turn into referrals and new business for you.
